The World Trade Organisation (WTO) Director-General Pascal Lamy, has said he sees a high level of commitment to conclude the trade talks.
Mr Lamy who is the chairman of the WTO Trade Negotiating Committee says while there were some significant differences, which remain to be resolved in the talks referred to as the Doha Development Round or agenda, convergence was within reach to close the gaps.
In his report to the General Council on July 27 posted on the WTO website, Mr Lamy said the major recent development in the negotiations has been the circulation of draft modalities texts by the Chairs of the Agriculture and Non- Agricultural Market Access negotiating groups.
He said the delegations now have August to reflect before they resume on September 3.
